The five-seat Berlingo Crew Vans will be used by Virgin Atlantic’s aircraft engineers as they keep the long-haul aircraft in operational condition. The Dispatch vans are being used for longer distance travel between airports, both in the UK and mainland Europe, to collect and deliver time-critical aircraft parts and equipment.

Most of the Relay Specialist Dropsides will used by the stores teams to carry items like aircraft wheels and tyres. The Relay Specialist Luton van, resplendent in Virgin Atlantic’s distinctive livery, will be based at Heathrow. It will be used by the facilities maintenance crew to move anything from paint to furniture between airports and other company facilities.

Virgin Atlantic has a target to reduce CO₂ emission per passenger mile by 30% between 2007 and 2020. Not surprisingly Virgin Atlantic’s Logistics Manager, Matt P. Neville, was attracted by Citroën’s low emission LCVs, as well as the breadth of the range and the vehicles’ significant financial benefits. “When it comes to the combination of low emissions and low whole-life costs you can’t beat Citroën,” he says.

The introduction of the cleaner and more fuel efficient Euro 5 engines in the Citroën LCVs has helped Mr. Neville win Virgin Atlantic’s Hero Award for sustainability.

The mileages of the vehicles vary significantly. Those remaining within an airport clock up just 5,000 miles per year. At the other end of the spectrum, some take it in turns to cover a 350 mile route seven days per week.

“Because our vehicle usage varies so greatly we have moved away from leasing to direct purchase as it enables us to replace the vans as and when needed, rather than having to stick to a particular timetable,” says Mr. Neville.

The first flight – which was to Belfast – took off on time at 06.15am this morning, followed by further flights to Barcelona and Amsterdam through the course of the day.

Catherine Lynn, easyJet’s customer and revenue director, commented “We are delighted to be checking in our first passengers from London Southend this morning. We have worked hand in hand with the airport for many months to make this a great passenger experience. The airline now flies daily from London Southend Airport with passengers having a choice of more than 70 flights per week to 10 European destinations including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Malaga and recently announced ski route Geneva.

London Southend Airport is easyJet’s eleventh UK base and it has brought three new A319 aircraft and over 150 employees to the airport, with more than 800,000 passengers expected to fly in the airline’s first year of take off.

London Southend Airport managing director, Alastair Welch, said “With £100 million invested, 500 new jobs created, 10 exciting new routes from easyJet, we are gearing up to reach 100 flights a week from London Southend Airport this summer. Today’s first scheduled easyJet services mark a new beginning at the airport, and it is a very proud day for the entire team here at London Southend.”

Each passenger boarding this morning’s first easyJet departures to Belfast and Barcelona from the new terminal was treated to fresh pastries, a commemorative stick of orange rock, a glass of champagne and a slice of a specially commissioned 6-foot long cake featuring Southend’s famous pier.

easyJet offers routes to Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Ibiza, Jersey, Majorca,  Malaga and Geneva from London Southend.

When we visited the crocodile farm we were lucky enough to see how the crocodiles were feeded, we also saw some baby crocodiles beeing hatched. This is quite an experience if you haven’t seen it yet. Crocodiles gets hatched from eggs.

The crocodile farm also have a wide variaty of snakes. A coffee shop, tea garden as well as a curious shop and Art Gallery where you can purchase real crocodile products. The Riverbend crocodile farm is the ideal visit for families during your holiday to the South Coast. It is close to Margate, Ramsgate and sits at the entrance of South Broom.

I would save the visit to the crocodile farm for a rainy day, or one of those days that you just do not feel like going to the beach.

The Riverbend Crocodile Farm in South Broom, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa is one of many interesting places to visit in South Africa. The next time you go on holiday to Margate make sure to visit the Southbroom, riverbend crocodile farm.

If you want to get real close to lions this is the place to go. You can drive real close to the lions, and if it were not dangerous to do, you could almost stick your hand out of the window and touch these lions, this is how close you can get to the lions.

The Lion Park also have a lion cub section. Here you can actually enter a cage and play with the lion cubs. The best time to visit the lion park is during the week. During the week the lion park is not as busy as it is during the weekend. This allows you more time with the lion cubs, as well as more time driving through the lion camps. During the weekend it is also fun to go to the lion camp. The camp is buzzing on the weekends. Many people make it a outing and you will find people having picnics and “braaing” during the weekends!
